Products with personality

From my dreams I pluck practical, beautiful, playful products that make life just a little funkier.

I am a mixed race Londoner with British, Jamaican, Jewish and Lithuanian roots; my mongrel heritage helps keep my fertile mind open. My creative journey has led me from singing, songwriting and performing dance music worldwide to travel photography and on to product design.

My eclectic background continually informs and enriches my designs. Often my products have mixed/dual uses which can have space saving and environmental benefits as well as being more fun.

When I was three I had my picture taken with a spider monkey in a Christmas grotto. The monkey was too heavy for me to lift. I still remember its sleek black fur and sensitive prehensile tale. Some 30 years later, this recollection came back to me and my spider monkey hook, Hooky Monkey was born.

I trained in ceramics and am a mouldmaker by trade. I had a spell working in the film industry as a model maker where I’d use all sorts of materials to make things look like other things. I seem to have brought this through into my design work. I like to incorporate a little bit of humour with a practical edge.

Trained in 3D design, Kate has had a varied design career having designed and art directed for fashion, interiors, gifts, graphics and greeting cards.

At the heart of every project is the desire to evoke a smile whether it’s a quirky gift, a fabulous fabric print or a functional furniture range…

“I work on a wide range of projects and enjoy the crossover between

different disciplines, inspiration from one area feeds another, and it keeps it all interesting”
